Aurora suprises wih male, but what a boy!

copyright 2006 Frana Biederman
On October 22, 2006, a Sunday morning, Aurora surprised with a boy. This is his pix at 2 days old. After several months of trying to name him, his nick name stuck. "Hot Stuff" ... and why not. His mom Aurora is a blue Ribbon winner at 2005 Great Western Alpaca Show in Denver, GWAS, one of the major alpaca shows in the country, as well as a blue ribbon at the 2006 Taos Wool Festival. She also won a reserve color championship at 2005 GWAS. She won 3rd in fleece at AOBA Nationals in 2005. Hot Stuff's Dad, Mile High Peruvian Salute is a multi-time winner of color championships. I expect great things from Hot Stuff.

Aunt Aurora likes to look after me.

New Baby at PHI BETA PACA

Mountain Magic, fondly known as Maggie, delivered a beautiful baby boy at about 11:10 am on August 16, 2006. There must be some alpaca competition going on because the miracle is that the new boy, as yet unnamed has white eyebrows like The Kipster son of Julietta. Neither boy has any parents or ancestors in common. Is this a new alpaca conspiracy?! LoL

Kipster is growing up

Kipster just passed his three month mark. At shearing time, ten weeks, his fleece was 3-3.5 inches. The canon powershot s50 is in for repairs. So the attached pix are from the camcorder at 1.5 megapixels.

Aurora speaks out

The Kipster has been up to mischief. He's always bumping into me and sometimes tries to catch my rear leg with his front ones. The boy's had one thing on his mind almost since birth...and I'm sure you can guess what that is.

As for me, I still hold the ranch record for ribbons won: a blue ribbon and reserve color championship at The Great Western Alpaca Show 2005 and a third place ribbon for fleece at AOBA Nationals 2005. I am posting a pix of my triumph at GWAS. I was a year old then, but I'm much more glamorous now.

I don't think my mom is going to enter my fleece this year. She is waiting to campaign The Kipster next year, while I'm here pregnant...I think? hope? You know the boys, they are always....

Elegantly yours,
A
P.S. . Don't you think an alpaca as beautiful as I am should be recognized by using only a letter instead of a single name like all those Hollywood stars ?

The Kipster - ready for a conversation

Did you know that I sheared over 3 inches of fleece. You should see me now. I am bay black with sable underlining. I can't wait until I am a stud. I am driving Aurora, my half-sister crazy.

Can you imagine what I have to put up with?
